Count closed cells
Do not read a number alone. Compare it with nearby closed cells and flags already placed.
Three habits that help
Look for 1-2 and 1-1 edges
Repeating edge patterns often reveal one safe cell and one likely mine.
Delay guesses
If a move feels random, scan another side of the board first. A different edge may give you a certain answer.
